What happens if I can't finish the race?It's okay! Not every race goes as planned. If you're unable to finish, event staff and medical personnel are there to assist you. There's no shame in stepping back if needed.

Can I change my distance?Yes, you can change up until a month prior the event to another distance.

What are the prizes for the event?The prize for our Triathlon is a medal for every participant that finishes their full course.

What is the length(s) of the Triathlon?Black Tri Tribe Triathlon distances include Sprint (400m swim, 20k bike ride, 5k jog), Olympic (1500m swim, 40k bike ride, 10k run) and BTT Special (100m swim, 10k bike ride, 1k walk) for adults.

What equipment do I need for a triathlon?Basic equipment includes a swimsuit, goggles, a roadworthy bike, a helmet, running shoes, and appropriate clothing. You will also need sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses as the event is being held at the seafront

How do we get photos from the event?Photos will be taken at the Triathlon event by our photographer and a link will be shared after the event via email.

Can I get a refund?There will be no refunds .

What strokes are allowed during the swimming portion?Front crawl and breaststroke are the only strokes permitted in this event.

When is BTT Brighton Triathlon event?Our Brighton Triathlon event is Saturday June 7th, 2024. It starts at 7am and ends at 1pm. Please arrive between 6:45 and 7:15 registration will be closed at 7:30.

How do I stay updated with the Triathlon event in June?You’ll recieve emails with updates and closer to the event you be placed in WhatsApp group where notifications, updates and memos will be sent. Also, you will receive emails with an information pack. There will be a pre-event screening , for all questions and concerns to be addressed date TBA.

Who can come to the coaches swimming sessions?We have designed sessions for beginners and intermediate swimmers who are looking to improve their technique. We also coach children accompanied by an adult.

Is drafting allowed during the bike leg?No DRAFTING DURING THE SWIM. Drafting rules vary. In some distances, drafting is allowed, while others enforce no drafting to maintain fair competition. Remember this is a family friendly fun event. Familiarize yourself with the event's specific ethos and values.

If I don't have a bike, what resources could I use?Bike It Ben will be available on the day providing bike hire. It will be there for collection before the race begins and must be given back at the end. The cost will be announced shortly look out on the website and socials.

What is the distance for Black Tri Tribe (BTT) triathlon for children?50m swim, 1k bike ride, 100m run is the BTT special for children.

Will there be food vendors & refreshments on sale?Yes when you sign up you get a list of vendors and what they offer via email.

Where do you train?We have hubs in Brighton and London for swimming and walks/hikes.

Can I walk during the run portion?Absolutely. Many participants walk during the run, especially in longer events. Listen to your body and find a pace that works for you.

Will the event be chipped?Yes, the Triathlon will be chipped.

Is our Brighton Triathlon event an adult only event?No children are allowed to partake as well. The children’s event is for 6 and over only. Unaccompanied children under 10 will not be allowed to take part.

Can I join if I am white?Absolutely! BTT is a safe space community. We welcome our white allies, partners, family, and friends to join in support of their POC loved ones.

Can men or non-POC come to walks?Yes! our walks are open to everyone interested in being active and wanting to be a part of a community of like-minded individuals.

Can we purchase kit?Our kits are currently unavailable for purchase. Check our website and socials for any upcoming announcements.

How do transition areas work?Transition areas are designated spaces where participants switch between disciplines. You'll have a spot for your gear, and the transition zone is where you will cross between each discipline. When you check in before the event starts you will get a set of numbers which will give you access to the transition zone. Any competitor that loses their number and wrist band will not be allowed access into the transition zone until all kit is collected at the end of the event. The transition zone will be monitored on entry and egress. Competitors can bring in and store ONE small bag in their transition area no bigger than 50cm x40cm x20cm. Please only bring what you need and some appropriate clothes to change into after you finish. You’ll receive an information pack via email with more details.

Do you have to be experienced in Triathlon to partake?We promote and encourage entry-level participation and provide training for Triathlon through our Coached Swimming lesson and running group. Check out each respective page for more details.
